The aplinia genus contains a number of lovely ornamental plants that you ve probably seen in high-end flower arrangements. They flower with upright cones of bright red or pink flowers on large stalks, and their leaves are frequently fragrant when crushed. Alpinia plant does not produce flowers for the first 3 years, but when they grow, they show huge football sized flowers, blooming all year around.
Adenium is grown as a houseplant in temperate regions. Numerous hybrids have been developed. Adeniums are appreciated for their colorful flowers, but also for their unusual, thick caudices. They can be grown for many years in a pot and are commonly used for bonsai.
